The journey, in detail.
Mon Chiot standardizes information and vets breeders — but never inserts itself between you and them. Here's exactly how it works, from your first click to the day your puppy comes home.
Seven steps, one less middleman.
Search by breed and region
Filter the portal by breed, area of Quebec or Ontario, budget and availability. No sign-up required to browse listings.
Compare standardized listings
Every litter shows the same format: breed, sex, color, date of birth, price, vaccinations, microchip, papers. No "salesy" layout hiding the essentials.
Contact the breeder directly
One click on "Contact breeder" connects you by email. Mon Chiot never reads your exchanges and takes no commission on the transaction.
Ask the questions that matter
Parent health testing, socialization method, what's included, take-back policy. A responsible breeder answers without getting defensive.
Visit before you reserve
We recommend a visit — in person, or a video call if distance requires it — before any deposit. Seeing where the puppies live tells you a lot.
Reserve with the breeder
The deposit, contract and terms are an agreement between you and the breeder. Mon Chiot collects nothing and signs no contract on your behalf.
Welcome your puppy home
Homecoming day happens at the breeder's, with a complete health record. Some breeders stay reachable long after — ask in advance.
What we check before accepting a breeder.
No breeder appears on Mon Chiot without going through this list.
Identity confirmed
Name, kennel address and contact details verified before the first listing goes live.
Health testing required
Proof of the health tests recommended for the breed, before any litter can be posted.
Written commitment
Every breeder signs our charter: home socialization, transparency, no overbreeding.
Removed on report
A listing flagged by a family is suspended while we verify — no endless process.
What that word actually means.
"Responsible breeding" is easy to write and hard to prove. On Mon Chiot, it translates into concrete criteria — the same for every breeder on the portal:
- Genetic health — testing before mating, not after the fact.
- Home socialization — no outdoor kennel or high-volume breeding.
- Documented transparency — vaccinations, microchip and papers delivered, not just promised.
- Reasonable volume — few litters at a time, each puppy known individually.
Visit recommended before reserving
What we get asked most.
No. We're a portal: we vet breeders and standardize information, but every transaction happens directly between you and the breeder. We never touch a puppy, a contract or a payment.
Yes, entirely. Browsing the portal, contacting a breeder and using the filters never costs anything. It's breeders who subscribe to the portal — never families.
Identity and kennel address confirmed, proof of the health tests required for the breed, and a signed responsible-breeding charter before any first listing. See the "Trust & safety" section above.
Never. Ranking follows litter freshness only. There is no paid option to improve a position — it's written into our terms of use.
Write to us at info@monchiot.ca with the details. A flagged listing is suspended while we check with the breeder, and removed from the portal if the report is confirmed.
We strongly recommend it, and most breeders on the portal welcome it. If a breeder systematically refuses any visit, that's a signal worth taking seriously — ask them why.
